In Taiwan, metal sheet steel-structure buildings can be seen everywhere—roof extensions, carports, barns, livestock sheds, factories, warehouses, and more. The main reasons for their popularity are their lower construction cost and shorter installation time. However, the roofing and wall materials of such buildings—typically galvanized steel sheets, galvalume steel sheets, or stainless steel panels—are all susceptible to corrosion from salt, acids, and alkalis. This leads to rusting, flaking paint, and dents or deformation caused by external forces.

These issues not only affect the appearance of the building but also frequently result in roof leakage, requiring repair or replacement after only a few years of use. Additionally, metals have high thermal conductivity, making them prone to heat absorption and poor insulation. Maintaining comfortable indoor temperatures therefore consumes more energy. For these reasons, Tailon introduced the latest generation of ASA Reinforced Plastic Corrugated Sheets, which offer an environmentally friendly, lightweight, and more durable alternative to traditional coated steel panels.

What Are ASA Reinforced Plastic Corrugated Sheets?

The “ASA Reinforced Plastic Corrugated Sheets & Roof Tiles” are manufactured using a high-performance co-extrusion production line. The structure consists of four layers: a top layer of ASA (Acrylonitrile Styrene Acrylate resin), followed by three layers of PVC / CaCO3 / CPE. All four layers are extruded in a single process, and each layer’s material formula is designed based on the required product characteristics.

The top ASA layer provides excellent resistance to acids, alkalis, corrosion, and UV radiation. Even in harsh outdoor environments over long periods, product performance remains stable. ASA is one of the most weather-resistant plastics—around ten times more durable than ABS. The remaining three layers—PVC / CaCO3 / CPE—offer high mechanical strength, strong acid-alkali resistance, and stable chemical properties, making them widely used in various construction materials.

To meet local market needs, both corrugated and roof-tile styles were developed to match different architectural designs or sound-barrier applications. The corrugated type (750 profile) can even be installed directly over existing metal roofing sheets, significantly reducing renovation time and labor.

Applicable Uses

ASA Reinforced Plastic Corrugated Sheets can be used for roof extensions, carports, covered walkways, industrial factories, logistics warehouses, coastal buildings, livestock barns, agricultural greenhouses, and other roofing applications. They are especially effective in harsh environments, where their superior material properties can be fully demonstrated.

Product Features

❚ Long-Lasting Durability

The surface layer is made of ultra–weather-resistant engineering resin (ASA). Even when exposed long-term to UV radiation, humidity, heat, or cold, it maintains exceptional stability. Xenon-arc weathering tests (10,000 hours) verify that the product has a natural service life of over 30 years.

❚ Corrosion Resistance

Resistant to acids, alkalis, and salts, it is especially suitable for corrosive environments and coastal regions. It completely solves the problems of rust, leakage, and loosening commonly found in traditional coated steel sheets, while maintaining a clean and attractive appearance.

❚ Superior Sound Insulation

The sheets provide excellent noise reduction against heavy rain, hail, and strong winds. Compared to conventional coated steel roofing, noise levels are reduced by more than 20 decibels.

❚ Excellent Heat Insulation

With a thermal conductivity of only 0.0953 W/m·K—approximately 1/80 that of coated steel plates—the sheets significantly reduce heat transfer. The Solar Reflectance Index (SRI) is also twice that of painted steel, resulting in surface and indoor temperatures that are over 3°C lower.

❚ Impact Resistance & High Toughness

The sheets exhibit excellent and well-balanced performance in impact resistance, compressive strength, tensile strength, and bending strength. They are especially suitable for typhoon-prone regions such as Taiwan, maintaining roof integrity under strong winds and heavy rain. (CNS wind–rain testing indicates resistance to winds up to level 17.)

❚ Self-Cleaning Surface

The dense and glossy surface exhibits a “lotus effect,” making it difficult for dust to adhere. Rainwater naturally washes the surface clean. It is also resistant to mold and bacterial growth, preventing microbial degradation.

❚ Flame Resistance

The sheets are self-extinguishing and non-combustible. They have passed the UL-94 flame test and meet CNS 7614 Class-1 flame-retardant standards, ensuring excellent safety performance.

❚ Tested & Certified Quality

Tested and certified by SGS, the Plastics Industry Development Center, and other national-level institutions, ASA Reinforced Plastic Corrugated Sheets have proven reliability and quality.
